The Master of Science in Engineering in Sustainability Engineering [MSc(Eng)(SE)] prepares students to drive the transition to a low-carbon economy in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and regional Dual Carbon targets. As the green technology sector expands, the programme addresses the need for interdisciplinary professionals capable of tackling complex environmental challenges.
Adopting a transdisciplinary approach, the programme combines sustainability science, green engineering, and circular economy principles with strategic management. This well-balanced, “mini-engineering MBA” framework strengthens students’ ability to pursue future opportunities as leaders, managers, visionary engineers and technologists.
Students acquire skills to leverage advanced AI tools for renewable energy integration, resource optimisation, green technology development and analysis, alongside strategic knowledge in green supply chains and sustainable finance.
Core courses are delivered off-campus at the Kadoorie Centre of the University, providing an immersive learning environment in close harmony with nature. Students also have opportunities to interact with international and local experts through on-site mini-symposiums, and gain experiential learning through hands-on capstone projects, field research and industry collaborations.
