The Master of Science in Engineering in Low-Altitude Technology [MSc(Eng)(LAT)] equips students with a comprehensive foundation in the theoretical principles, innovative design and safe operation of low-altitude aerial vehicles. The programme prepares graduates to adapt to the rapidly evolving low-altitude economy, which encompasses drones, unmanned small-to-medium cargo planes, executive jets, engines, fans and propellers, general avionics and aviation economics supporting low-altitude transportation networks.
Through the curriculum, students gain essential knowledge in aerial vehicle design and manufacturing processes, as well as fundamental skills in aerial vehicle operations. Practical, hands-on training enables students to develop the ability to design and implement fabrication processes for aerial vehicle devices.
The programme is designed to support the development of low-altitude industry in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and beyond, fostering innovation and technological advancement. It cultivates professionals with interdisciplinary capabilities in low-altitude flight design, manufacturing and entrepreneurship, and prepares students to address key challenges across technology development, operational logistics, certification and technical knowledge for policy formulation.
Students are required to complete 84 credits, comprising 54 credits of courses plus a dissertation equivalent to 30 credits.
*Students may have the opportunity to complete approximately one-third of the curriculum at the HKU Zhangjiang Base in Shanghai, offering a distinctive cross-border learning experience, subject to further announcement.
