The Master of Science in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering [MSc(Eng)(ME)] is designed to enable postgraduate students to build a wider perspective and deeper understanding of the contemporary challenges mechanical engineering professionals face.
Mechanical engineering applies scientific knowledge and engineering principles to the analysis, design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems. The discipline continues to evolve alongside advances in science and technology, expanding into multidisciplinary applications such as advanced materials, energy and biomedical fields.
In response to these developments, the curriculum offers a comprehensive range of technical courses and learning experiences, including energy and power, environmental engineering, material technology, applied mathematics, computational fluid dynamics, theoretical mechanics, and computer integrated design and manufacturing. Students integrate and apply what they learn to address complex problems across the broad mechanical engineering field. Through the acquisition of new theories and development of engineering methods to investigate emerging issues, students build the capability to become effective engineering professionals.
Students are required to complete 72 credits, comprising 48 credits of courses plus a dissertation equivalent to 24 credits.
