The HKU Business School Master of Finance (MFin) Programme is a one year full-time interdisciplinary programme combining techniques in statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering and computer programming with the knowledge in finance, accounting, economics and law.
Our comprehensive and quantitative curriculum offers students multiple learning streams, as well as the option of double concentration, which they can select according to their interests and career aspirations.
Students on this programme will have access to a first-class teaching faculty, outstanding alumni and mentors, and will benefit from internship opportunities with big names in the industry.
HKU MFin programme also enjoys professional partnerships with the CFA Institute and GARP to ensure the curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and well-suited to prepare students for the demand of the global financial industry as well as to sit for the CFA examinations.
Students need to complete a total of twelve courses (single concentration) or fourteen courses (double concentration). They can choose to concentrate in one or two of the learning streams: Corporate Finance, Financial Engineering, and Risk Management, according to their interests and career aspirations. Up to two elective courses may be taken from other taught postgraduate programmes offered by the School.
Entrance Requirements
1. A recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent;
2. Statements from two referees; and
3. A TOEFL/IELTS* score if you are not from an English teaching university.
*A minimum score of 80 (internet-based test) in TOEFL, or a minimum overall band of 6 with no subtest lower than 5.5 in IELTS is required.
