Overview

The Master of Science in Engineering in Energy Engineering [MSc(Eng)(EnergyE)] is jointly offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The programme is designed to response to the increasing global energy demand driven by industrialisation, economic and social development, and the need to provide expanded and improved energy services for a growing population. It also recognises that many energy sources currently reply on fossil fuels, which are associated with air pollutants and greenhouse gases and are not unlimited. The programme therefore focuses on technologies that reduce energy consumption and support sustainable energy and fuel development. The curriculum covers a range of energy-related topics, including energy technologies, energy production, energy conversion, energy conservation, energy efficiency and energy use.

Students are required to complete 72 credits. Part-time students are required to complete either 48 credits of courses plus a dissertation equivalent to 24 credits, or 60 credits of courses plus a project equivalent to 12 credits. Full-time students are required to complete either 48 credits of courses plus a dissertation equivalent to 24 credits, or 54 credits of courses plus a co-op capstone project equivalent to 18 credits.

Entrance Requirements

1. Comply with the University Entrance Requirements; and

2. Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering or related sciences) of this University or a comparable institution accepted for this purpose.
