The Master of Science in Engineering in Civil Engineering [MSc(Eng)(CivE)] provides postgraduate education for those pursuing careers in civil engineering and for practising civil engineers who wish to deepen, update, and expand their professional expertise. The programme offers a General Stream and three specialised streams in Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering.
The General Stream covers a broad range of civil engineering subjects, including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure project management across the full life cycle, structural engineering and transportation engineering.
The Environmental Engineering Stream provides theoretical and practical training in areas such as hydrology, wastewater treatment, solid waste management and environmental impact assessment.
The Geotechnical Engineering Stream delivers advanced knowledge in foundation engineering, slope engineering, soil mechanics, engineering geology and tunnel construction.
The Structural Engineering Stream addresses the growing demand for engineers with advanced training in tall building structures, bridge engineering, seismic design and wind engineering.
Students are required to complete 72 credits, comprising at least 36 credits of Discipline Courses, 12 credits of Elective Courses and a dissertation equivalent to 24 credits.
