Overview

The Master of Science in Implant Dentistry [MSc(ImplantDent)] is a programme designed to enable practising dentists to acquire basic to advanced competences in the practice of dental implantology. The programme is a 2-year full-time or a 4-year part-time curriculum that leads a general dentist with practice experience of several years to a level of competence to perform simple to medium level of implant therapy. The programme focuses on comprehensive treatment planning and incorporating the installation of dental oral implants into the daily clinical practice of the candidate. Emphasis is placed on the maintenance of the patient with implants and the coping with complications that may arise. The coursework includes lectures and tutorials, seminars, case conferences, literature discussions, clinical and laboratory work, project assignments. A supervised research project is required for every student as a thesis for successful completion of the program.

Entrance Requirements

1.  A BDS degree from this University or a degree or other qualification of equivalent standard from another university or comparable institution.

2.  A minimum of one year of working experience, some of which should be of relevance to the programme applied for.
